Conference Paper: Growth Challenges Ahead for Asia's Telcos

I hosted a panel of industry leaders at the TMT Finance Asia Conference in late 2013.

My panel explored several urgent questions facing Asia's telcos:

• Can Asia telcos sustain their growth trajectory? What will be the main growth avenues?

• Can we expect renewed investments in mergers and acquisitions after the marked slow-down in 2008-2009 to support the growth trajectory? How to best finance these investments?

• Are Asia telcos effectively innovating vis-à-vis the market place, and how can sector regulations and other regulations support them further in this vein? What is the future structure of the telco industry in Asia?

• Are Asia telcos effectively managing the transition from local to regional and, potentially, global operators?
